How To Style Chelsea Boots

Every fashion week I attend, not matter where, becomes a “How To” week for me: How to style a pink shirt, how to NOT dress like Kanye, how to dress to be true to myself, how to rock a look as effortless as Luka Sabbat.

This NYFW I am pondering a style that’s over 150 years old, how to style Chelsea boots. The design and invention of the Chelsea boot is attributed to J. Sparkes-Hall, boot maker to Queen Victoria. So keep in mind that when your wearing the boot, you are rocking a look with quite the history.

The boot’s inherent simplicity really allows them to fit well with a variety of looks, although there are certain ways to style them to keep the look on point. My current favorite Chelsea boots of the moment are these Tommy Hilfiger brown leather babies. They’re sleek, simple and can easily be worn to both casual and formal events.

I personally love pairing the boots with a well-tailored suit. It’s a more dressy approach, but don’t feel like you have to go formal all the way. Here I styled the look down pairing the boots with a tank and knit hat. This look pays homage to the boots royal history but still had cool modern touches to keep if fresh.
