Lacoste, Billy Reid, Hood by Air And Tim Coppens: One Sentence Reviews

 

 

The men of these four collections embrace gender neutrality without fear while simultaneously keeping his cool, pairing chunky knit/ textured pant combos with fur and socks under platform boots  in an effort to keep his models warm.

Billy Reid

Folksy, southern charm steeped in luxury hit the runway at Alabama-based designer Billy Reid’s Fall 2015 show as a collection of canvas utility pants, a cracked leather shearling jacket and a herringbone topcoat was revealed with a bird print conversation repeating throughout the collection in several pieces, including a blown-out hawk eye on a sweater and an all-over print on an overcoat. Reid has officlay lost his connection with youth culture.

Hood by Air

Hood by Air proved gender is so last season as models in pantyhose with crudely scribbled eyebrows, sideburns and facial hair over their faces, took to the runway in fur and leather, puffa jackets tight, long black T-shirt dresses, high-heeled, square-toe platform clodhoppers, black leather-belted utility parka, dyed fly-away jeans. Two words: obscured sex.

Tim Coppens

Inspired by “Skinheads,” a book by Derek Ridgers, Coppens redefined modern edge as was the cashmere camel coat — but a ribbed bomber collar and zip-on scarf. There was knit sweaters — but with implications of “corporate” removed with Swarovski crystal embellishment.

  

Lacoste

Tennis anyone? Lacoste tapped into the ‘70s trend for a playful celebration of the brand’s heritage churning out red tracksuits paired with deconstructed coats, garments emblazoned with ‘René did it first’ (in a very 70s font.) Perhaps being stuck in the past isn’t such a tragic thing.
