I got to thinking about what is considered sexy during the warm summer months. Sure tanks, shorts potentially a speedo if you’re Ryan Gosling are all obvious skin flashing options. But what about is you don’t feel like showing skin, or you have to go out to dinner or an event where it is forbidden to show armpit (therefore upper arms) and legs.

What is a guy to do? How can we crank up the volume to a level that’s straight-up show-stopping?  Enter the silk bomber jacket.

Silk is one of the sexiest fabrics out there and a bomber jacket is just hot. So when the two merge, stand back you’re in the splash zone. Also the history of the jacket is pretty badass. They were originally crafted as a way for American soldiers to commemorate their time overseas, are becoming increasingly more prevalent on runways. Now they’re showing up on the backs of some of the most influential fashionistos today like Harry Styles, Drake, Kanye, and Miguel.

Sure, we (as in, you and I) live in a different reality — one where bombers are mostly made a more functional fabric and wearing a jacket in the summer is considered insane — but even if we didn’t. How is one to pick up dry cleaning before work if one can barely get down the two flights of stairs it takes to exit the building without suffering from dehydration?

Here’s how to rock the look. First, wear the bomber at dusk or later in the day. Second, wear it will all black as to let the bomber say “Hey, I’m the star player here.” Third, wear a t-shirt under it, don’t try to layer it in a cool way. You will end up drenched in sweat and majorly frustrated. Save the layering for fall. And lastly, let the silk work it’s charm.
