Straight A’s: Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/ Summer 2015 Video Look Book

I’m still not over 90’s nostalgia.

The men all sport haughty expressions that border on smug- they aren’t paying attention in chemistry because they don’t care, they just already know the answers and want to get to art class or the beach.

It seems they and Marc by Marc Jacobs share that attitude in common. The teaser just exudes cool. Windbreakers in bold color mixes,  what look like keychains as necklaces, bold print open button downs that almost feel like caftans. I don’t know where this look is going, the beach, a bar I’ve never heard of or a club I stumbled into once and can never find again, the library to read Ayn Rand. Whatever the case is, the styling suggests that no matter the destination, wearing any of the clothes will ensure you’re doing it with a smirk playing on the corners of your lips.
This 90’s meets modern feel shouldn’t come as a shock. If your Facebook news feed is anything like mine, all you see are nostalgia 90’s posts. The millennial generation, burdened by growing senses of debt and adult responsibility are regressing to a time when it was Ariel and not Elsa reigned as queen supreme and Pogs were the only currency that mattered. This Spring/Summer collection revisits the best bits about the 90’s- color, over accessorizing with tribal inspired necklaces and windbreakers and  blocking. The fashion empire looks ready to sell out everything we caught sight of in the video and I’m sure what remains to be seen will sell twice as fast.
