Trends on Trends: London Men’s Fashion Week Fall 2016
“Show me the trends!” Ok. Ok. Jeez. No need to get loud. Here they are.
01 . 11 . 16
London Men’s Fashion Week Fall 2016 packed a powerful sartorial punch. So let’s cut to the chase. Here are the nine leading trends that hit the runways across the pound this season.
The Robe Coat
London wants you to relax. Shh, don’t argue. Just go with it. The comfortable look hit the runway at Topman, Sibling, Christopher Raeburn and J.W. Anderson.
Bold Knits
You can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, Pringle of Scotland, but many were left speechless by these bold prints. In model order we have Pringle of Scotland, James Long, Sibling and Lou Dalton.
80s
A rebellion against the 70s; the 80s are back and showed face at Christopher Shannon, E. Tautz, James Long, Lou Dalton.
Androgyny
They’re genderless and they don’t care who know it. The gener neutral look is back and walked the catwalk at Topman, Christopher Shannon, J.W. Anderson and MAN.
LONG Sleeves
You can try this now if you own a shirt with sleeves way to long. From left to right we have Topman, Agi & Sam, J.W. Anderson and Joseph.
Lux Blazers
The fabric doesn’t matter so long as it shimmies as you shake. A staple of the preppy look, luxurious blazers showed up at Gieves & Hawkes, Alexander McQueen, Tiger of Sweden and Casely-Hayford.
Emerald
They cast a wide net if you’re in the market for a cool update on a bold work look. The jewel tone shimmered at Richard James, KTZ, Moschino and Casely-Hayford.
It’s a kind of grungy and posh lounge lizard look that a guy would rock on a Tinder or GRINDR date that was destined for an evening spent in the sack, and a morning spent praying he forgets most of his wardrobe at your place as you pretend to be a sleep.
Shirt-Skirts
They’re not quite a shirt and not quite a skirt. I think Jaden Smith holds the answer to this. In model order we have Alexander McQueen, Agi & Sam, Moschino and Topman.
