Guillaume Henry injected some mood into his arty and calm aesthetic for fall 2014. The French designer striped away ornamentation and looked to vintage mug shots for inspiration. A lineup of bare, rough and sexy threads was the result. The American thug theme effortlessly flowed through the entire collection of mostly black basics, subtle dashes of velvet accents, coal-colored washed denim jackets and patent-leather lace-ups. Although more coarse then past seasons, the Carven aesthetic was still firmly in place – collars were slightly exaggerated and a retro-flavored flare was quite prevalent. My personal favorite item was the boxy biker jacket in checkered tweed sprouted sleeves in pebbled black leather. Who said plaid isn’t badass?
