They just make September seem a little less scary.

No matter how many years I have been out of school and no longer have to dread starting a new unfamiliar grade, I still fear September 1st. I feel as though the mention of September will forever sound taboo to me.  This August I tried to distract the approaching month by experimenting with a crop top and channeling Sporty Spice’s edge, but nothing seemed to really do the trick. Although I did have a killer time while wearing the crop.

Yesterday I found a pair of Ikat print shorts I purchased last summer at Club Monaco that reminded me of the South East Asian textile class I took in college. Do you know some cultures believe the cloth is imbued with magical powers? The print is thought to be a second skin of sorts, a protective layer that brings good thing to those who wear it. So I couldn’t think of a better garment to help chase away end of summer blues and usher in September in a glowing positive light. I kept the rest of the look quite simple in order to allow the shorts to stand out and really work their magic, pairing them with my Razika Sweatshirt and white Birkenstocks. I already feel less terrified of that month that falls between August and October.
