9 Things Everyone Will Talk About at London Men’s Fashion Week

Is nothing sacred?

01 . 05 . 15

Confession: during men’s fashion weeks, aside from the latest designer offerings, abundant street style inspiration, chiseled models and endless stream of champagne, I particularly enjoy the topic of conversation that blossoms before and after each show. You know to what I am referring to – fresh to death industry gossip. The best kind. Gossip that goes beyond dating and divorce and Nicki Minaj’s succulent anaconda.  Here are the 9 topics I think everyone will be talking about this season at the Men’s fall/ winter 2015 fashion weeks.

Untitled-1Ready for John Galliano’s comeback

The Maison Martin Margiela creative director will present his first couture collection in London on January 12. All eyes will be on this as John Galliano makes his hotly anticipated comeback. There has not been comeback dripping with such expectancy and nervous energy since Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s in 1953. There’s a lot riding on this. However I have full confidence in the designer.

Have you seen the new Entourage Trailer?

The boys are all back for more scintillating Hollywood fun as HBO hit Entourage makes the transition to the big screen. Actors Adrien Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon and Jerry Ferrara reunite as Vincent Chase makes his directorial debut. The trailir of the film released last month and will hit theaters this summer, June 5, 2015

Balmain-Spring-Summer-2015-Mens-Campaign-Kanye-West-Kim-Kardashian-001-800x518

 Balmain’s new campaign.

Photographed by Mario Sorrenti nothing says happy holidays quite like the shrill pout of Kimye. Of course, the two pose in what is meant to be a seductive situation but actually just turns into their own personal Kiss Cam. (You know, basically what every photo on their iphone looks like, minus the pics of North West in puffy fur jackets.) Click here for more on this.

Benedict Cumberbatch.

Benedict Cumberbatch is quite possibly the most subtly sexy man in Hollywood. Benedict elicits in me a sense of, I could be that guy – That guy being a dude who recalls the swagger of the ‘1940s in a totally unpretentious and sincere way and sprinkles just the right amount of style magic in most outfits he sports. He has something to teach us about good living and chic dressing. Click here for more on Benedict’s style.

Tisci Badu cover

Is Riccardo Tisci going to Gucci?

Yes his Spring 2015 collection could’ve easily walked the runway at Gucci instead of Givenchy, but will designer’s contract with LVMH allow for the transition? If there is any man who can ad a youthful edge to an Italian house, it’s Riccardo.

Nick-Jonas-Flaunt5

Anyone else listening to Nick Jonas on repeat?

I’m listening to his entire album right now. I don’t think there’s anything innately wrong or rash in gushing at Nick Jonas’ reinvention. He’s young, hot, ripped and sings a song I cannot get out of my head. He’s a thing of beauty. Something to show off. And jam to. Click here to read my interview with Nick.

Loewe-2015-Spring-Summer-Collection-Men-JW-Anderson-007

J.W. Anderson is a man on fire.

Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe debut along with his Spring 2015 namesake collection was met with a ton of praise. Will J.W. Anderson loose the momentum that has been building around Anderson’s vision? Unlikely. A killer Fall 2015 collection could propel the designer into another stratosphere.

Language group aims to ban ‘Bae,’ ‘Swag,’ and ‘Foodie’

The Queen’s English for Misuse, Overuse and Uselessness has put forth its influential, Weltanschauung-changing, schism-creating annual List of Words to be Banished. This year, the organization include such terms as swag, foodie, hack, curated, skill set, takeaway, and polar vortex. I particular agree with the last phrase. If they ban it, does that mean one will never hit NYC again?

Patrick-McGrath-90s-Inspired-Shoot-001

Is anyone else getting tired of seeing men channel the iconic advertisements actor Mark Wahlberg did for Calvin Klein in the 1990s?

No. Ok good.
