Giorgio Armani is not into Spornosexuals or flamboyant men.  Wait, does this mean no crop tops this summer?

Giorgio Armani connected with The Sunday Times to discuss the 40th year anniversary of his label. The 80 year-old designer is quite candid when it comes to the subject of style and physical preferences. Discussing the ideal male physique, Armani explains, “I don’t like muscle boy. Not too much gym! I like somebody healthy, somebody solid, who looks after his body but doesn’t use his muscles too much.”

On the subject of style, Armani focused on gay men, commenting, “When homosexuality is exhibited to the extreme to say, ‘Ah, you know I’m homosexual,’ that has nothing to do with me–a man has to be a man.”

As far what “dressing homosexual” looks like, Armani doesn’t elaborate, although he readily admits to his aesthetic being associated with restraint rather than flamboyance, saying the word “boring” isn’t necessarily such a bad thing.

“Boring? Some people do say that and probably rightly so. But the tough war is not with the critics, it is with my clients. They want Armani. I design for the public, not the fashion industry.”
